Siobhan Taylor

August 18, 2021 9:49 am

The Willamette Falls & Landings Heritage Area Coalition lost its longest serving Executive Director on August 11, 2021 after a valiant fight with brain cancer. Siobhan served as the Coalition’s Executive Director for ove

r five years, including part of 2021, and prior to that she had served several years as a Board member and as an Executive Committee member representing the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde.

Siobhan had an indomitable Irish spirit, and no challenge was too great for her to tackle with passion and joy! Much of what the Coalition has accomplished is because of her stewardship. From maintaining and expanding a network of partners to help advance the Coalition’s vision and mission of seeking The Willamette Falls & Landings National Heritage Area; creating Heritage Talks; working toward creating a Cultural & Heritage Center in West Linn’s historic city hall; caring for the myriad of administrative and fiscal processes of a non-profit; planning and facilitating Board and Committee meetings; working with state and federal authorities and stakeholders on Heritage issues; to numerous other projects that would have “burned out” most of us long ago, she always gave 100 percent.

But today we, and anyone who had the privilege to call Siobhan a friend, lament that we and this world have lost a strong, caring woman who will be sorely missed. Upon hearing of her passing, nearly every one of the 27 Coalition Board Members have expressed their admiration for Siobhan and the grief we all share. The remarks ranged from one word “heartache” to the joy and privilege to have known and worked with “a shining heart – always positive, fun, smart and sassy!”

Siobhan has left us, but her legacy will live on.

We've achieved state heritage area status. But gaining national recognition from Congress and the National Park Service requires hard work, persistence and a constant outreach and contact. That takes resources in time and money. Your gift counts! Please donate to help us continue our efforts.
